This is the third of the three mythological beasts.
His name is Ziz, the king of the sky.

The name means "son of the nest". According to the legend, the gigantic Ziz hatched from an egg that was left alone by the mother bird...
The description of Ziz reminds me a lot of a Phoenix and the giant bird Roch - so I gave my Ziz the shape of a fiery carnivore phoenix and made him sit on a hill of ashes and bones.

The four wings are symbolic for him as king of the sky and his bond to Leviathan and Behemoth, as those two also got multiple bodily parts.

This sculpture took me ca. 86 hours - less than the other two.

materials used:
- air-drying modelling clay
- acrylics
- wire
- aluminium foil
- some kind of lichen (don't remember the right name) as ash
